Bonfire Builders:  Huge thanks to all of you able to help build the wonderful bonfire now taking pride of place on the village green.

Marshals:  Today the event attracts 8-10,000 people and strict regulations make it essential we have enough marshals for the torch-light procession, crowd, car parks and road blocks on the night.  Short, scheduled shared slots (try saying that after a few beers) means you will have heaps of time to enjoy the bonfire and fireworks with your family and friends too!

If you would like to help with marshalling this great occasion then please contact Steve Baker via the bonfire website or come along to the marshals briefing in The Half Crown @ 8.30pm on Thursday 3rd November for a few beers ………Oh, and that briefing!

Setting up and Clearing away:  As you can imagine, an event like this involves a huge amount of setting up – putting up tents, trestle tables, fences, road diversions, cones, etc, and clearing away afterwards – leaving the village green as clean and tidy as we can.  If you would like to help with either setting up or clearing away, please contact Simon Manuel.

Raffle Tickets:  We had some great prizes in 2010 (see website). Thanks to all those who donated and congratulations to those who won!  We already have some amazing prizes lined up for this year’s event and any assistance you are able to provide selling raffle tickets would be most welcome.  Maybe you would like to donate a prize – please contact Jane Devlin.

Collection Buckets:  The bonfire raises money via street collections which is given to villagers over the age of 70. In 2010, over £4,000 was raised and distributed to 140 elderly residents of the village.  We also raised enough money to make donations to worthy local causes and helpers.  But money cannot be collected without your assistance.  So if you would like to help

‘shake a bucket’ on the night, please contact Gill Allen at the village post office.

Remember, remember the 5th of November ………….. and with your help and continued support, we can make this another truly spectacular and memorable occasion
